Art of service

I had the honor of taking part in The Art of Service exhibition at the Canadian War Museum. This event brought together many professional Canadian artists, each contributing their work to support a meaningful cause — proceeds from sales go directly to programs that assist Canadian veterans. It was inspiring to see how art can unite people in remembering, healing, and giving back. I presented my painting “There is Always Peace After War”, a reflection on my own lived experience as a Ukrainian who has witnessed war. The artwork shows an isolated house surrounded by flames, with ghostly flowers rising into the dark sky. These forms embody memory, grief, and loss, but also resilience, beauty, and the silent hope that follows devastation. Sharing this piece in such a significant space, alongside so many talented artists, was both humbling and powerful. I believe that art can be a bridge — between past and future, between loss and healing, and between darkness and light.
